My Biggest Baby

Bandit had kind of a rough month last month. He got pretty sick and also tore the ligaments in his back leg.

However, August is really shaping up to be his month! He's feeling much better and put back on a lot of the weight he lost.

The GOOD NEWS today is that he does seem to be healing! Last month his leg was loose and just kind of flopped around. The vet said it has tightened up "a lot" and is showing some serious signs of improvement! He got a brand spankin' new green cast today and the healing continues :-)

Where to begin...

I have to start getting ready for the baby somehow, somewhere, and I think I know where:

Currently, Chris is using the closet that will be the baby's closet. So he has to move his stuff ... in here. This picture is from January, because showing you a current picture would be embarrassing (well, more embarrassing than that). This is just the tip of the ice burg when it comes to my clothes. Not pictured here are six 18 gallon buckets of clothes, a love seat covered in folded clean clothes, and at least two loads of dirty clothes. I have a lot of clothes and 90% of them don't fit me ... but I just can't get rid of them! My Mom says she'll come over and make me, but really ... she's my Mom. If I say No, she'll cave.

I was forced to take 9 days of vacation time before the end of September, and I'm hoping to utilize those as baby prep days. And this is where I'm starting.

Unless Chris agrees to give up clothes. That's an option, right?

Boy or Girl?

We find out the sex of the baby on August 13th! That is 2 ½ weeks away! That seems like ... it came outta nowhere!

I thought it would be 4 weeks from today since I had an appointment today and they are usually every 4 weeks. However, she said, "Why wait?" and I couldn't agree more :-)

Today's appointment went well. The heartbeat sounded great, my health is still good. That's about all that we talked about today.

Hello!

I've been overwhelmingly busy at work, so haven't blogged much.

I just thought I'd check in to ponder ... is it possible to turn orange from eating a ridiculous amount of mango?

New Baby Picture

We had our "NT" scan on Monday. Everything came back well within the normal range and the baby looked great!

The best part? The baby had hiccups! It was so cool to see the baby doing something so ... real.

Public Enemy Number One

Pretty much all of it. Anything I eat either makes me nauseous, tastes terrible, gives me heart burn, or gives me gas. However I'm 13 weeks today! I'm anxiously awaiting the joys of the second trimester.

Also, I looked down today - my stomach is sticking out farther than my chest! Not so cute, just yet. I'm hoping it starts looking evident that I'm pregnant sooner rather than later.

Telling My Parents

Note: A lot of these blogs are being posted for my own memories, so sorry if they are long :-)

When I told Chris, he had to go out of town for 12 days the next morning. Knowing that I would be spending a lot of time with my parents those 12 days, we decided we should tell them right away.

This turned out to be a good decision since they walked in the door that day with a bottle of wine and a bottle of tequila!

You remember the golf balls I used to tell Chris? The day before that, I had a pretty good idea that I was pregnant. So that day (Saturday) I was shopping with my mother. Having NO idea that we were even thinking about having a baby, she saw the golf balls. She suggested I buy them to use to tell him when I get pregnant.
*Snicker*

So you know how Sunday morning went ... Chris gone, I'm home alone, dying to share my news. My parents kept calling asking to either come over or asking if I could watch their dog for the afternoon. Normally both of these things get a big, "Of course!" out of me. But I had to say no, and honestly ... it came out pretty awkwardly and rudely. I don't normally have to tell them no, and had no excuse why I was turning them down!

Finally Chris comes home, and after we'd talked about it for a while he tells me to call my parents and invite them over to "grill." The conversation went like this:

"Hey Mom! Why don't you and Dad come over? We'll grill steaks."

"Actually, your father and I are downtown at the dog park, can we do it next weekend?"

"Um, no. Come over."

"What? But we're already downtown and already ate dinner."

"Well, um. Well. Just come over."

(Wearily) "...Okay. We'll be there in a little while."

"Hurry up."

Awkward conversations with my mother like that don't happen very often! So after my rudeness earlier, she knew something was up. I had to tell Chris to stop crying! I was worried they would walk in and think we were getting a divorce or something bad ;-)

A few minutes after they arrived, Chris says that I gave him a pretty cool gift that day and gets out the golf balls.

Dad got it pretty quickly since he doesn't play golf (hence, the "Dad" golf balls were not for him!). My mother, though ... she said, "No, Sara! You were supposed to wait until you are pregnant!" .... crickets .... "OHMYGOSH!!! ARE YOU SERIOUS?!"

We cried, we laughed. We talked about it all night. We had steak and shrimp and a whole fabulous dinner. Sunday, April 25, 2010 is on my Top 5 Days Ever list. You always imagine how it will "be" when you are pregnant - how you'll tell people, what it will be like, how you'll feel. This day could not have been better if it were planned out.

Sneaky, Sneaky

Dear Morning Sickness,

That was a sneaky move, coming back at 12.5 weeks. Your 3 week absence was much appreciated. Can we go back to that please?

Thanks so much (you dirty jerk),
Sara and baby
